Paris, France 2017

During the summer of 2017, I attended Sciences Po, located in the heart of Paris, to pursue an intensive French course. The course consisted of French classes on a daily basis and additional workshops of phonetics and philosophy to further improve my speaking, writing, and reading skills. The course overall was tailored towards a political understanding of French politics, the area of expertise of Sciences Po. This was achieved by focusing on three subjects:
“A Politically Fractured France”, “Shifting Agenda and Identity in the European Union”, and “Crisis, Inequalities, and Indignations.” My written and oral language skills were reinforced through a study of various materials, including political programs, speeches, interviews, and articles from various French newspapers.
Additionally, through the study of famous texts of French “littérature engagée” from famous French thinkers, such as Jean-Jacques Rousseau, Victor Hugo, Albert Camus, Robert Badinter, Robert Desnos, Paul Éluard, and Simone De Beauvoir, I had the opportunity to improve my knowledge of French culture and the history of ideas in France.
