Press Director for CCBMUN XI (2013)

On the XI Model United Nations hosted by my high school, I was chosen as the Press Director because I was a student who had not only been an outstanding delegate when participating in previous MUNs, but also one  who was involved in the activities of the press team in a previous MUN. My duty was to deliver a daily newspaper about the model, to register what was going on inside the commissions, to highlight outstanding delegates, and add interesting pictures and facts that would interest students.

My team was composed of 12 students, including myself, from 7th grade to 12th grade. I was in charge of assigning them tasks on a daily basis so we could gather and integrate everything at the end of the day to make a significant edition. To see the MUN from a different academic area, such as journalism, and be aware of what was happening in each commission resulted in a very interesting and enriching experience for me. Furthermore, the direction and organization of the press team was the most instructive, due to the challenges that had to be overcome with every issue of the newspaper. For example, there were many things to take into account, such as as creating a fair combination of entertaining and academic aspects.

Finally, I was chosen to be one of the hostesses, along with a friend, of the closing ceremony and to give a brief speech to congratulate the students for their exceptional participation during the process of the MUN. It was an honor for me because it recognized those students who had sought the expansion of their own knowledge and expanded their horizons beyond their classroom environments.
